... It Isn't The Last Y LAN

Sort of.

Let me explain further, this will be the last Y LAN, but not the last LAN we run. Future LANs will be run under a subtly different banner that is still up for debate (then again we might just keep calling them Y LANs who knows)

Anyway, details for this LAN are:
  • 6.00pm Friday start
  • 10.00am Saturday finish
  • Bring the usual stuff:
    • computer
    • power board
    • headphones
    • console
    • food
    • drink
    • $5
    • bedding (if desired)
    • DVDs (max M rating to avoid possible disappointment)
So I'll see all of you Friday night.

... Some Like It Early

Just dropping you all a line about just happened and upcoming events.

This past evening we joined with Jebus for the first time and had alot of fun. Naturaly this means you may want to remember that there is no Y on this Sunday as we just had church for this week.

The termly LAN party will not be at its usual time (last friday of the term) as I must attend a friends wedding on the Saturday, so we will be having it on the last Friday of the holidays (the 24th) from 6.00pm till 10.00am

... Andrews right

Andrew mentioned he was trying to figure out if anything was on tonight.

Well there isn't to the best of my knowledge, but if there is suficient interest we can open up the room at church next week for general hanging and games. (replying to this topic could be a good way to express such interest, or to organise random other social events)

Normal programming will return on the 29th.

... We Need Your Help

The next Two Headed Giant event is coming up on the 4th of February (Saturday). The sausage sizzle we ran last time was very sucsessful and raised over $100 for Y. As it is a realitivly small event it is very easy to run, with their being a dedicated lunch break during which people will be buying sausages.
Could I please see a showing of hands for people willing to come down and sell sausages and drinks between 11.30 - 2.00?

PS: take this as your notice that there is a Two Headed Giant event on that day if you want to play in it. This time it will be sanctioned!!!!!!!!!!111111oneoneone.

... Cerberus Was Boring

Real Name: Gareth C. Pye
Alias: Cerberos
Alias Root: Cerberus/Kerberus is the three headed dog that guards Hades in Greek/Roman mythology, which I was slightly into back in 1998 (when I choose the alias). Being the super 1337 person that I was I decided that a subtle misspelling was what I wanted. I choose the C spelling instead of the K so that it would work as my middle name.
Hobbies: Running Y, Magic, Running Magic Events for northern Magic, Computers, GPS
favorite Music: Trance, although Brake Beats are becoming a new favorite.
Antithesis of Above: Pop Musak, if the chart ever featured Crazy Frog it aint for me.
Star Sign: Capricorn

... Where is God in Christmas

Here's a topic of been thinking about lately, especially with some stuff that I've read on other peoples blogs..eg. signposts. Hope it starts some discussion.

God in Christmas
The other day I found myself wondering what Christmas has meant to me in years gone by of my life. To give a truthful answer from about the ages 0-10 I can't remember anything. From ages 11 until now Christmas has meant presents and having to wake up early to go to church. But as I get older and the presents no longer mean as much, I'm starting to like the God side of Christmas alot more. But still there is a much stronger enphasase on "what you got for Christmas" rather than "why are we even celebrating Christmas". Does Christmas these days actually have a meaning to people, or is it just a time of human celebration. I'm sure Christmas is very meaningful to alot of people - Christain or not, but being a Christain, this year, I want to be able to regognise the real meaning of Christmas.
- God's gift of Jesus to the world.

...Lans are kool!... Oh, wait... Gav already said that...

THE LAN SLASH SLEEPOVER IS THIS FRIDAY! WOO!

What you need to know:

-come at 6pm-ish

-bring sleeping gear

-bring computers / games / network stuff / movies / PS2 / X-Box

-bring five bucks for food, plus some munchies if you like

-tell your parents to pick you up at 10:30am on Saturday

-and bring your friends!

By all reports, it's gonna go "right off". Any questions? Holla back youngin'!

P.S. The carols by candelight are on this Saturday night. As you know, the kick-ass BBQ we put on is our biggest fundraiser and helps us payfor things like, A LOT! Things like State Youth Games. So if you couldspare a couple of hours to help out... you'd be helping Y enormously.Plus you get free sausages, and no sausage tastes as good as a freesausage! But anyway, more about this at the sleepover. :D
