... Funds Should Be Raised

Was going to remind you guys about some important going ons last night, but attendance was, umm... lacking.

This coming Saturday (the 15th) is the 2 Headed Giant tournament and Y is running a Sausage Sizzle to raise funds for Y activities. Activities such as SYG and the possibility of a weekend away or better resources for killing time.

So I would like to know which of you are available to help with the sausage sizzle from 11.30 till 2.30 at the church. Please contact me via phone or email (9434 6753 / gareth@cerberos.id.au)

Also it would be nice to know what expectations any of you guys would have of a weekend away?

  • I think we should go to the place that Gav can't remember. It sounds... intriguing.

Oh, and to the chimp, we're thinking more along the lines of sometime early next year.

  • As apart of many facets of Church life it would be good to know ahead of time that someone is not going to be attending a given evening. (if nothing else it would save us waiting around 10 minutes for 'late' people who just aren't turning up)

    Is anyone available for Saturday?

  • As one of the leaders of your congregation I feel that it is my responsibility to hold you to accountable for your spiritual disciplines. As we learnt this past term Participating in Church Life is one of the 7.
I'm starting to get some idea of how Phil feels everytime some member of the church makes some comment like "Why can't we all just come to blended?" Y as a youthgroup is missing the point. Youth need a congregation of there own, just like every other niche in the community. Running social events that end with someone saying: "If you enjoyed tonight maybe you would enjoy a small group or sunday night worship, talk to me if you'd like more details" is missing the point, youth need a congregation of their own, they need every facet of church life presented in a different way (just like every other niche in the community). If the only christian input within Y was the leaders witnissing to the youth or in responce to a direct question (which could be answered with, sorry ask me that later i'm running a game at the moment).
If you want your social life organised, go join the scouts, if you want to grow as a christian join Y.
If were doing church so badly that you don't want to turn up, then tell us what you don't like about it, and even better suggest a way to improove it. Maybe were doing church so badly that we need to completely redesign Y, but it would need to be replaced with another congregation, I'm not going to baby-sit your social activies, your not babies.
